Contributo para a Compreensão do Fénomeno da Violência Doméstica Sobre as Mulheres: A Voz das Vítimas

Abstract

A violência contra as mulheres é algo que se constrói culturalmente e, neste sentido, as próprias mulheres foram preparadas para viverem neste ambiente e perceber o preconceito, do qual são alvo, como natural. O presente estudo procurou explorar a perceção de mulheres vítimas de violência por parte do seu companheiro, compreender se na infância experienciaram algum tipo de violência e analisar quais os seus pontos de vista relativamente à relação abusiva e à violência doméstica no geral. Assim, pretendeu-se compreender a violência doméstica pelo olhar de vítimas e contribuir para a desmistificação de crenças e estereótipos em torno da vitimação. Esta investigação tem carácter qualitativo e foi levada a cabo tendo em conta os pressupostos da grounded theory e da grounded analisys. Foram entrevistadas 6 mulheres, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas. A partir da análise de dados foi possível verificar as marcas da cultura patriarcal em que vivemos ainda estão presentes, que a tomada de decisão para abandonar a relação abusiva depende em larga medida das diferenças individuais das vítimas e que, apesar de haver maior consciência de que a violência doméstica é crime, parece ser difícil identificar os seus sinais para quem está na relação abusiva. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Violence against women is something culturally rooted, therefore women themselves learnt to live in this environment and take the prejudice as natural.This study aimed to explore victim women perspective about their abusive relationship with their partners, realize if they experienced any kind of violence in their childhood and analyze their view on abusive relationships and domestic violence in general. Therefore, the mains study tried to understand domestic violence through the victims’ eyes and contribute to the demystification of beliefs and stereotypes regarding violence. The qualitative research was carried out considering the grounded theory and the grounded analysis procedures. 6 women were interviewed, using the semi structured interviews approach.Along-with the data analysis it was possible to verify that there are still patriarchal marks in the society we live in today, that the decision of abandoning an abusive relationship depends in great scale of the victims’ individual characteristics and, even though there is a greater consciousness that domestic violence is a crime, it seems to be difficult to the victims to identify the signs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
