Evolução das "barras" no sistema lagunar da Ria Formosa : a barra da Fuseta como caso de estudo

Abstract

As “barras” no sistema lagunar da Ria Formosa deslocam-se para leste e, no caso da “barra” da Fuseta, essa migração é rápida e de uma forma não linear. Tal fenómeno tem sido atribuído à deriva de oeste para leste, à alternância entre a deriva de oeste para leste com o levante, ao aquecimento global e até a temporais que potenciam a erosão com consequente transporte de sedimentos no litoral. Porém, esta explicação muito geral deixa várias questões por responder, a primeira porque razão migra a barra para leste com uma velocidade tão variável. A segunda grande questão prende-se com o facto que durante a migração, a barra quando chega ao Livramento, abranda e abre uma nova barra na praia da Fuseta, onde já tinha estado antes de 1950. Têm de existir outros factores, que alterem os agentes e os processos morfogenéticos, que expliquem de uma forma cabal e pormenorizada a migração para leste da barra, a seu carácter inconstante e a peculiar característica de ciclicidade. Este trabalho de investigação vai explorar para além das derivas oceânicas, da acção dos temporais e do aquecimento global outros aspectos e características da paisagem tais como a litologia, a tectónica, a morfologia da laguna, o clima e por fim a hidrografia, marinha, cársica, lagunar e fluvial. Pretende ser uma análise integrada da superfície terrestre da Fuseta e assim poder dar respostas mais detalhadas a este singular caso de evolução morfossedimentar do litoral da praia da Fuseta. The inlets in the Lagoon System of the Ria Formosa move Eastwards and, concerning Fuseta inlet, this migration is fast and non-linear. Such phenomenon has been attributed to the West towards East drift, to the swapping between the West towards the East due to the Levante drift, to the global warming and even storms that increase the erosion and the consequent transportation of sediments to the littoral. However this explanation is wide and leaves several questions unanswered: Firstly: why does the inlet move towards East rapidly but unevenly when it should be slow and even? Secondly: why does the inlet reopen in its former place when it should progress Eastwards. This opening of the inlet goes against that principle of migrating Eastwards as Man action, over the last 50 years, has made that migration possible: unsilting the channel up and relocating the inlet 800 m backwards. There must be other factors that change the morphogenetic agents and processes that should be able to explain, concisely and in detail, the Eastward migration, its uneven behaviour and the inlet’s peculiar returning movement towards the beach of Fuseta. The aim of this scientific work is to explore not only the ocean drifts, the wave climate, the storms and the global warming but above all other aspects and characteristics of the land and seascape, such as the lithology, tectonic structure, the morphology of the lagoon and of the tidal ebb, the region climate and finally the maritime, lagoonal, river and karst hidrology. So it is intended to make an overall analysis of the geography of Fuseta.
