Construção do imaginário arquitectónico : influências fotográficas

Abstract

Vivemos rodeados de imagens. A cultura visual em que nos inserimos hoje obriga-nos a interagir com a imagem como meio fundamental de representação. A arquitetura, como atividade que prioriza o visual, encontra-se também embebida neste consumo imagético interminável. É muitas vezes encarada como vítima da Imagem, mas também como beneficiária das regalias da fiel representação do real. Documentação, difusão e inspiração criativa, são alguns dos domínios onde Arquitetura e Imagem se cruzam, com especial atenção para esta interseção de conhecimento e inspiração que se apura na relação projetual. A importância da imagem arquitetónica vai além da mera representação técnica, e essa condição verifica-se na compreensão das mútuas influências que ocorrem desde os tempos modernos, era em que o visual ganha protagonismo, e começa a imiscuir-se na conceção da arquitetura. Esta intromissão faz da imagem o seu veículo, e da memória o seu acolhimento. Imagem e memória estão intimamente relacionadas, e juntas estabelecem um processo de armazenamento e produção criativa, que participa na metodologia projetual. O conceito de Museu Imaginário, de André Malraux é estudado, numa próxima confrontação com a atividade arquitetónica. Procurando um ampla compreensão da relação Arquitetura - Imagem integrada numa produção cultural, esta investigação pretende descortinar as oportunidades oferecidas pela Fotografia, e a sua responsabilidade na construção do imaginário arquitetónico do arquiteto.

We live surrounded by images. The visual culture that we are part today requires us to interact with the image as a fundamental mean of representation. Architecture, as an activity that prioritizes the visual, is also embedded in this endless imagery consumption. It is often seen as a victim of the image, but also as a beneficiary of the advantages of the faithful representation of reality. Documentation, diffusion and creative inspiration are some of the fields which architecture and image intersect, with special attention to this intersection of knowledge and inspiration that are noticed on the projetual relationship. The importance of architectural image goes beyond the simple technical representation, and this condition is verified on the understanding of mutual influences which occur since modern times, when the visual gains prominence, and begins to meddle in the design of architecture. This meddling makes its vehicle, and memory its refuge . Image and memory are closely related, and together establish a process of storage and creative production that participates in projetual methodology. The concept of the Imaginary Museum, by André Malraux is studied in a forthcoming confrontation with the architectural activity. Looking for a broad understanding of the relation Architecture - Image, embedded in cultural production, this research intends to uncover the opportunities for photography, and its responsibility in the construction of architectural imagination of the architect.
