(Lent and cols, 2004, 2009; Diener and cols, 1999, 2000) pretende constituirse
The transition from high school to higher education confronts young adults with numerous changes and challenges, which need to respond and that will have repercussions to the level of success and satisfaction with life in general and the academic life. The present thesis, based on some studies already carried out in this context, and leaning on the integrative model of Lent to explain the adjustment and well-being under regulatory conditions as well as some aspects of the explanatory model of subjective well-being proposed by Diener and cols. (Lent and cols, 2004, 2009; Diener and cols, 1999, 2000) it aims to establish itself as a modest contribution to explaining the role played by some sociocognitive and emotional factors in the importance that students attach to higher education academic and social domains. The sample of this research consists of 203 subjects to attend the 1st year of college in different contexts, although predominates the frequency of MIP in FPCEUC. Toward achieving the proposed objectives, we resort to the use of the following questionnaires: Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and Academic experiences questionaire (Lent et al, 2005: adaptação Ramos & Paixão, 2010). In general, the results confirm the existence of significant relationships between the study variables and enable to highlight the role played by support from significant figures in the importance that higher education students assigned to new academic and social areas where now are inserted. |
