ABSTRACT - The geology, mineralogy, geochemistry of weathering and properties of granites used in rockfill dams are presented. With increasing weathering CaO, Si02 and FeO have losses, while Fe203 has gains. The joint analysis of the chemical composition and some physical and mechanical properties showed the existence of clear relations between the Miura index and the dry unit weight and between the Miura index and the point load strength. A relation between the molecular ratio 2Fe203/(2Fe203+FeO) and the dry unit weight was also observed. The decrease in strength is related with the increase of porosity and fissures and with the decrease of elastic waves. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/35282 | Rights: | openAccess |
