Ingressos na Universidade de Coimbra ao tempo do reitorado de Manuel Côrte-Real de Abranches.

Abstract

Este trabalho, intitulado Ingressos na Universidade de Coimbra ao tempo do reitorado de Manuel Côrte-Real de Abranches (1664-1666), foi desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Política Cultural Autárquica.Para o nosso estudo, utilizámos as seguintes fontes: o Índice de Alunos da Universidade de Coimbra, o qual se encontra guardado na Sala do Catálogo do Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra; e as informações contidas no sistema informático Archeevo. Os dados recolhidos destes registos foram colocados em tabelas para facilitar a sua leitura. Cada tabela corresponde a um ano letivo e a uma determinada Faculdade.Encontra-se dividido em três partes. Na primeira, apresentamos o Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra, a sua história, e o trabalho desenvolvido por nós ao longo do estágio. Na segunda parte, descrevemos a metodologia de investigação utilizada, evidenciando as fontes e a bibliografia que considerámos mais relevantes para o nosso estudo. Por fim, na terceira parte, traçámos o percurso académico dos estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra desde as matrículas até às provas de curso, analisando a sua distribuição pelas faculdades e a taxa de sucesso das atribuições de graus académicos.Ao longo da nossa investigação, apercebemo-nos que a Guerra da Restauração foi responsável pela diminuição de ingressos efetuados na Universidade de Coimbra durante a cronologia que estudámos. Apurámos também que os estudantes inscritos demonstravam uma clara preferência pelas faculdades de ciências jurídicas – Cânones e Leis. Identificámos também alguns alunos naturais de províncias ultramarinas, nomeadamente da Madeira, dos Açores, do Brasil e de Angola.

This work, entitled The students enrolled in the University of Coimbra at the timeof the rector Manuel Côrte-Real de Abranches (1664-1666), was developed within thescope of the Master’s Degree in Política Cultural Autárquica.For our study, we used the following sources: the Índice de Alunos da Universidadede Coimbra, which is kept in the Archive of the University of Coimbra; and theinformation contained in the Archeevo platform. The data collected from these recordswere placed in tables for easy reading. Each table corresponds to a school year and to aparticular Faculty.It’s divided in three parts. In the first part, we present the Archive of the Universityof Coimbra, its history, and the work we developed during the internship period. In thesecond part, we describe the research methodology used, evidencing the sources andbibliography that we consideredmost relevant to our study. Finally, in the third part, wepresent the academic course of the students of the University of Coimbra since theenrollments until the course exams,analyzing their distribution by the faculties and thesuccess rate of academic degreesa ttributions.Throughout our investigation, we realized that the Portuguese Restoration War wasresponsible for the decrease of enrollements made at the University of Coimbra duringthe chronology we studied. We also found that the enrolled students showed a clearpreference for the faculties of legal sciences - Canons and Laws. We have also identifiedsome students native from overseas provinces, namely Madeira, the Azores, Brazil andAngola.
