Marcadores Discursivos em Perspetiva – entre a Linguística e a Tradução

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como objeto de estudo a tradução e a interpretação dos marcadores discursivos (MD), mais especificamente os marcadores discursivos de reformulação (MDR), tendo como objetivo chegar a conclusões sobre os marcadores discursivos ‘isto é’ e ‘ou seja’ e a tradução e interpretação dos mesmos realizadas pelo Parlamento Europeu (PE), entre os anos 2009 e 2011, usando software específico de trabalho com corpus, como o AntConc. Para um melhor e mais detalhado estudo, o enquadramento teórico aborda as questões linguísticas, tradutivas e interpretativas que podem estar em causa aquando da compreensão, tradução e interpretação de ambos os marcadores discursivos aqui trabalhados. Neste enquadramento teórico, apresentam-se vários autores que trataram os marcadores discursivos de reformulação na área linguística, com especial enfoque nas autoras Lopes (2014) e Saz Rubio (2003), que, junto com Pic, Furmaniak, & Hugou (2013), servem de base para a identificação dos valores dos marcadores discursivos aqui trabalhados. Além disso, apresentam-se aqui estudos de linguística contrastiva e estudos de tradução que utilizam marcadores discursivos. De seguida, é dada uma descrição detalhada da construção dos corpora (o corpus da tradução e o corpus da interpretação) aqui analisados. Finalmente, à luz dos autores apresentados na introdução teórica, será feita a análise dos corpora, com especial atenção aos valores dos marcadores discursivos previamente definidos (‘isto é’ e ‘ou seja’), nos textos de partida (TP), ou seja, nas intervenções originais, em português, de vários eurodeputados portugueses, e às suas traduções e interpretações feitas pelos profissionais do Parlamento Europeu.

This dissertation takes as its object of study the translation and interpreting of discourse markers (DM), in particularly discourse markers of reformulation (DMR), in order to reach conclusions about how two specific discourse markers in Portuguese (‘isto é’ and ‘ou seja’) were translated, orally and in writing, by the European Parliament (EP) between the years 2009 and 2011. To make this possible, specific software – the concordancer AntConc – was used. In order to give a more thorough and detailed account, the study is framed by a theoretical discussion of linguistic, translational and interpreting questions that may be of importance for the understanding, translation and interpreting of both discourse markers. This theoretical framework introduces several researchers who have studied discourse markers of reformulation in linguistics, with special attention to Lopes (2014), Saz Rubio (2003), and Pic et al. (2013). Some studies concerning discourse markers in contrastive linguistics and translation studies are also described. This is, then, followed by a detailed description of the building of the (translation and interpretation) corpora analysed in here. Finally, the corpora are analysed in the light of the authors introduced in the theoretical section. In this analysis, the uses of the discourse markers previously defined – ‘isto é’ and ‘ou seja’ – will be given special attention in both the source text (ST), that is, in the original interventions in Portuguese by several Portuguese native-speaking Members of the European Parliament and in the translations and interpretation made by the professionals of the European Parliament.
