Envelhecer em Casa - A Casa Inteligente

Abstract

A população mundial está a envelhecer. As consequências do envelhecimento são uma problemática de saúde pública. O aumento da longevidade exige um maior apoio a um crescente número de idosos, que cada vez têm maior número de limitações e doenças crónicas, que perturbam a capacidade de realizar atividades de vida diária (AVDs). Isto leva ao prejuízo cognitivo, funcional e social, que resulta no aumento do nível de dependência e perda de autonomia. Com este trabalho pretende-se avaliar o estado da arte, relativamente às soluções atuais para fazer face ao desejo de envelhecer em casa.Este estudo representa uma revisão narrativa de literatura nas áreas de Medicina, Engenharia e Arquitetura, pelo carácter multidisciplinar, tendo sido incluídos 64 artigos.Perante o panorama global, e os esforços das variadas áreas, o Ageing-in-Place (AIP) com o apoio da domótica representa uma resposta às necessidades da população da terceira idade para promover o envelhecimento saudável. Através de mudanças estruturais na habitação e implementação de inovações tecnológicas é possível devolver a autonomia e funcionalidade ao idoso, permitindo a sua permanência no local onde mais deseja, em casa. .

The world population is going through a fast ageing process. The outcome of ageing is, nowadays, a public health issue. The increasement in longevity requires larger support to a growing number of older people, whom undergo more physical limitations and chronic illnesses, turning the performance of daily life activities into a much more difficult task. Therefore, ageing is often pursued by a cognitive, functional and social decrease, that results in the increment of dependence and loss of autonomy. The present study is a narrative review with the intention to evaluate the state of the art, relative to the current existing solutions in order to allow the older person to age in place.A literature review was made in the fields of Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, due to the multi-discipline character, having been included 64 articles.Facing the global scenery and the efforts made in the different research areas, Ageing-in-Place (AIP) aided by the domotics field represents a turning point in the promotion of healthy ageing. Through structural changes in the dwelling and implementation of technological solutions, it is possible to return the autonomy and functionality to the older person, allowing their permanence at where they want, at home. .
