Funcionamento familiar, diferenciação do self e satisfação com a vida: Estudo exploratório com pessoas LGB e heterossexuais

Abstract

A família, enquanto primeiro grupo social, exerce grande influência no desenvolvimento identitário e global dos seus membros. A presença de uma orientação não-heterossexual entre o sistema familiar pode comprometer o funcionamento familiar e satisfação com a vida, ao longo do tempo. Desta forma, o presente estudo tem como principal objetivo avaliar a influência da orientação sexual no funcionamento familiar e diferenciação do self na satisfação com a vida.Esta investigação contou com a participação de 350 participantes, das quais 161 identificam-se como LGB e 189 como heterossexuais, segundo uma amostragem por conveniência e snowball. Dos resultados obtidos, não foram encontradas diferenças quanto ao funcionamento familiar entre os dois grupos de participantes.Contudo, a diferenciação do self revelou ser um importante fator explicativo da satisfação com a vida, particularmente para os/as participantes LGB. Family, as the first social group, carries out a great influence on the identity and overall development of its members. Moreover, the existence of a non-heterosexual orientation between the family system can compromise family functioning and life satisfaction across time. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to evaluate the influence of sexual orientation on family functioning and the differentiation of the self in satisfaction with life. This research included the participation of 350 participants of which 161 identify themselves as LGB and 189 as heterosexual according to a sample method for convenience and snowball. The results showed that no differences were found in terms of family functioning among the LGB people and heterosexuals. However, the differentiation of the self has revealed to be an important factor explaining life satisfaction particularly in LGB participants.
