A memória ensina ou ensina-se a memória?

Abstract

A relação entre a memória e a educação é, no mínimo, exigente. Educar significa, sobretudo, sensibilizar sobre como aprender do passado e pensar assim na sua atualização, também através de disciplinas específicas, como por exemplo a História. Mas será suficiente esta consideração tão imediata, que assume uma óbvia contiguidade entre o que herdamos do passado e o que transmitimos como conhecimento? A resposta é complexa.

The relationship between memory and education is demanding, to say the least. Educating means, above all, sensitizing about how to learn from the past and, thus, thinking about its updating, also through specific disciplines, such as History. But is this so immediate consideration sufficient, which assumes an obvious contiguity between what we have inherited from the past and what we transmit as knowledge? The answer is complex.
