Contributos da História Local e do Património Cultural para o ensino da História. O caso da Arte Nova em Aveiro

Abstract

O relatório realizado suporta a Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada desenvolvida no âmbito do Mestrado de Ensino de História no 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, que teve como propósito desenvolver capacidades fundamentais para a profissão de docente. Assim sendo, pretendeu-se com o primeiro capítulo descrever e refletir sobre as atividades realizadas e a evolução enquanto docente ao longo deste percurso.A aplicação do estudo da História Local e do Património Cultural em ambiente escolar demonstra grandes potencialidades para fomentar a consciência histórica do aluno, por essa razão, é aconselhada a sua aplicação nos documentos oficiais do sistema de ensino português. A conjugação destes fatores criou a oportunidade para desenvolver um estudo com uma turma do 11º ano de História da Cultura e das Artes da Escola Secundária José Estêvão, tendo como questão de investigação: Perceber se a História Local e o Património Cultural influencia o modo como os alunos compreendem História e como objetivos específicos; Verificar em que medida a utilização da História Local e do Património Cultural pode contribuir para uma melhor aplicação de conhecimentos a novas situações; Verificar se a aplicação da História Local e do Património Cultural se manifesta numa maior motivação; e por último, Avaliar se as aulas de campo promovem o aumento de motivação nos alunos. Para dar resposta à questão de investigação e aos objetivos delineados desenhou-se uma proposta didática, que articulou a Arte Nova em Aveiro como expressão de Património Cultural em contexto de ensino e aprendizagem da História da Arte. De modo a aproximar os alunos da temática, propôs-se como aplicação didática uma visita ao Museu de Arte Nova de Aveiro e a observação e análise dos edifícios pelas ruas da cidade. Os resultados deste relatório têm por base a recolha de dados através de trabalhos escritos e práticos realizados pelos estudantes e, ainda, três questionários que permitiram averiguar as conceções iniciais e finais dos alunos relativamente aos conceitos abordados em aula, nomeadamente os conceitos de “História Local” e “Património Histórico”, assim como compreender a relevância das visitas de estudo para a aprendizagem dos alunos.

The report carried out supports the Supervised Pedagogical Practice developed within the scope of the master’s degree in History Teaching in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra, which aimed to develop fundamental skills for the teaching profession. Therefore, it was intended with the first chapter to describe and reflect on the various activities carried out and the evolution as a teacher along this path.The application of the study of Local History and Historical-Cultural Heritage, in a school environment, can enhance the historical awareness of the student. For this reason, the official documents of the Portuguese education system advise its importance. These factors created the opportunity to develop a study with a class of the 11th grade of History of Culture and the Arts in Escola Secundária José Estêvão, with the main topic of research: “Understanding how Local History/Historical Heritage influences the way students comprehend History” and as specific goals “To verify in which measure the use of Local History and Cultural Heritage may contribute to a better application of knowledge in new environments”; “To examine if the application of Local History/Historical-Cultural Heritage manifests as a motivating factor to the students” and lastly “To evaluate the impact of field trips in student motivation”.To answer the main topic of research and its goals, a didactic proposition was created, which portrayed Art Nouveau in Aveiro as an expression of Historical-Cultural Heritage in a context of teaching Art History. To connect the students with the topic it was proposed, as a didactic application, a visit to the Art Nouveau Museum as well as the observation and analysis of buildings in this artistic style through the streets of Aveiro.The results of this study are based on the collection of all data, through written and practical work carried out by the students as well as three surveys. This allowed to certify the initial and final conceptions of the students regarding the concepts covered in classes, such as "Local History" and “Historical Heritage”.
