A minha relação ideal. Narrativas de adultos emergentes nos relacionamentos românticos e não monogamias consensuais.

Abstract

Em Portugal, as não monogamias consensuais são um tema que carece, ainda, de investigação no campo da psicologia, verificando-se a maioria da literatura científica em outras áreas das ciências sociais, como a sociologia ou a antropologia. A presente investigação procura aceder às narrativas de adultos emergentes, para compreender de que forma estes experienciam os relacionamentos românticos e as relações não monogâmicas. A adultez emergente, que compreende o período entre os 18 e os 29 anos (Arnett, 2000, cit. in Arnett, 2007) caracteriza-se fortemente pela exploração identitária, que se alia às transformações e movimentos sociais das últimas décadas. Pretende-se, assim, explorar os significados que os adultos emergentes atribuem ao seu relacionamento romântico ideal e não tão ideal, e a sua relação no envolvimento em não monogamias consensuais. A investigação é realizada a partir de uma metodologia de caráter qualitativo, inspirada em pressupostos da grounded theory. São analisadas sete entrevistas semiestruturadas. Dessas narrativas, resultam cinco dimensões: Significados que atribuem às relações românticas; Manifestações negativas nas relações românticas; Atitudes face aos ciúmes; Significados que atribuem às não monogamias consensuais; O futuro nas relações românticas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the field of psychology in Portugal, research on consensual non-monogamies is still very rare. Existing studies have been published in other areas of the social scienes, such as sociology or anthropology. This study aims to contribute to a closure of this gap by investigating interview-assisted narratives of emerging adults, in the attempt of understanding how they experience romantic relationships and consensual non-monogamies. Emerging adulthood, the years between 18 and 29 (Arnett, 2000, cit. in Arnett, 2007), is said to be the age of identity exploration, aligned with the social movements and social transformations of the past decades. On the basis of qualitative methodology and inspired by the approaches of grounded theory, seven semi-structured interviews are analyzed to explore the meanings that emerging adults attribute to their conception of an ideal and not so ideal romantic relationship, particularly in relation with the engagement in consensual non-monogamies. From those narratives, five dimensions are found: Meanings attributed to romantic relationships; Negative manifestations in romantic relationships; Attitudes towards jealousy; Meanings attributed to consensual non-monogamies; The future in romantic relationships. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
