A Importância da Experiência Prática na Museologia - Uma experiência no Museu da Ciência

Abstract

O presente relatório é o resultado do estágio curricular realizado no Museu da Ciência, no âmbito do mestrado em Património Cultural e Museologia na vertente Gestão e Programação na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra e orientado pela Professora Doutora Carlota Isabel Leitão Pires Simões. Iniciámos este relatório por explicar a história dos edifícios que dão lugar ao Museu da Ciência, tocando em pontos como a construção do seu edifício, a reforma pombalina em 1772 e por fim a sua adaptação a Museu da Ciência. De seguida, surge uma pequena contextualização quanto à importância da experiência prática na museologia e na formação de um museólogo, bem como uma análise a cada ramo da Museologia passando inicialmente por actividades que ajudem a aumentar essa mesma experiência. Posteriormente no final de cada capítulo elabora-se uma reflexão quanto ao papel das seis áreas da museologia (investigação/documentação, inventariação/catalogação, conservação, técnicas expositivas, comunicação e serviço educativo) através de actividades que exerçam estas funções. Dentro destas actividades dou especial atenção à Investigação/documentação onde irei investigar a origem de uns objectos museológicos, as espingardas de mecha. Estas armas têm especial atenção porque existe a possibilidade de terem participado no cerco de Diu em 1546; reflectiremos, de forma crítica sobre esta possibilidade. O presente relatório conclui assim a importância da experiência prática levada a cabo ao longo de seis meses.

This report is the result of the curricular traineeship held at the Museum of Science under the Master's Degree in Cultural Heritage and Museology in the Management and Programming area at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and supervised by Professor Carlota Isabel Leitão Pires Simões. We started this report by explaining the history of the buildings that give rise to the Science Museum, touching on points such as the construction of its building, the Pombaline reform in 1772 and finally its adaptation to the Museum of Science. Next, there is a small contextualization about the importance of practical experience in museology and in the training of a museologist, as well as an analysis of each branch of Museology, initially through activities that help to increase this same experience. Later, at the end of each chapter, a reflection is made on the role of the six museology areas (research / documentation, inventorying / cataloging, conservation, expository techniques, communication and educational service) through activities that perform these functions. Within these activities I give special attention to the Investigation / documentation where I will investigate the origin of some museum objects, the fuse rifles. These weapons have special attention because there is the possibility of having participated in the siege of Diu in 1546; we will reflect critically on this possibility. This report thus concludes the importance of practical experience over six months.
