As Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) e o Funcionamento Familiar de Famílias com Filhos Pequenos: relação entre a perceção do impacto das TIC e o número de problemas associados às mesmas no funcionamento familiar

Abstract

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) nowadays play an important role in society, which makes it relevant to investigate the implications that their insertion entails in everyday family life and the lifestyle of each individual. In order to contribute to the knowledge about this theme, the present study aims to analyze the relationship between the perception of the impact of ICT and the number of problems arising from its use in family functioning as well as determine the existence of a predictive effect of variables associated with the use of ICT in it.. A sample of 60 families with small children was collected from a total of 70 participants and the Emerging Technological and Family Survey (SETF / ETEF) and Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE-15) instruments were used to evaluate , Respectively, the use of ICT and family functioning.The analysis of the relationship between the perception of the impact of ICTs and the number of problems associated with them at this stage of the family life cycle allowed us to verify that a greater number of problems arising from the use of ICT is associated with a more negative perception of the impact of ICTs In the family and to a worse overall functioning of the family.Considering that research on the impact of ICT in families is still in need of new studies and developments, and this gap is even more prominent in families with young children, it is expected that these results will contribute to this area of research and also have impact on intervention with families with these characteristics.

As Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) assumem hoje em dia um papel importante na sociedade, o que torna relevante investigar quais as implicações que a sua inserção acarreta no quotidiano familiar e no estilo de vida de cada indivíduo. De modo a contribuir para o conhecimento em torno desta temática, o presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre a perceção do impacto das TIC e o número de problemas decorrentes da sua utilização no funcionamento familiar bem como determinar a existência de um efeito preditivo das variáveis mais associadas ao uso das TIC no mesmo. Para o efeito, foi recolhida uma amostra de 60 famílias com filhos pequenos, num total de 70 participantes e utilizaram-se os instrumentos Emerging Technologie & Families Survey (SETF/ETEF) e Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE-15) para avaliar, respetivamente, a utilização das TIC e o funcionamento familiar.A análise da relação entre a perceção do impacto das TIC e o número de problemas associados às mesmas nesta fase do ciclo de vida familiar permitiu verificar que um maior número de problemas decorrentes da utilização das TIC está associado a uma perceção mais negativa do impacto das mesmas na família e a um pior funcionamento global da família.Considerando que a investigação sobre o impacto das TIC nas famílias é ainda pouco explorado e esta lacuna é ainda mais saliente em famílias com filhos pequenos, espera-se que estes resultados sejam um contributo para esta área de investigação e que possam ter repercussões clínicas no trabalho de intervenção levado a cabo com famílias com estas características.
