Estratégias e Técnicas de Reabilitação de Fachadas em Centros Históricos

Abstract

A cidade de Coimbra, á semelhança do país onde se insere, possui uma identidade bem demarcada a nível arquitetónico e construtivo. Trata-se assim de uma herança que representa não só toda uma cultura – que a todos pertence – bem como um registo físico da evolução das técnicas construtivas empregues nos edifícios e monumentos. Nesta dissertação pretende-se estudar uma rua da zona histórica da cidade de Coimbra. A zona escolhida situa-se na Alta de Coimbra, mais concretamente na Rua Fernandes Tomás. Esse estudo basear-se-á num exaustivo levantamento de todos os edifícios pertencentes a essa mesma rua, que será uma “radiografia” dos seus elementos construtivos e soluções técnicas empregues nas suas fachadas, o seu estado de conservação e respetivas anomalias. Esse registo e mapeamento serão apoiados por um conjunto de fotografias recolhidas e organizadas segundo um critério que facilite a sua consulta e interpretação. As fachadas dos edifícios são um elemento com bastante relevância, sejam estas estruturais ou apenas de separação física dos espaços exteriores e interiores, motivo pelo qual se deve estudar e preparar com muito cuidado quais as ações de reabilitação que podem e/ou devem ser empregues. Toda e qualquer ação sobre o edifício devem visar repor as características de origem, utilizando matérias e técnicas que não o descaracterizem e que se ajustem física e quimicamente ao suporte.

The city of Coimbra, like the country of Portugal itself, owns a particular identity in what concerns architecture and building. This fact embodies a well-defined cultural heritage – that belongs to everyone – as well as a physical record of the evolution of construction techniques applied in buildings and monuments The development of this dissertation is based on the study of a specific street as part of the historical area of the city of Coimbra. The chosen street is Fernandes Tomás street located in the city area known as “Alta de Coimbra”. This study will be based on a thorough surveying of all the buildings located in that street, including the scanning of all the main construction features and technical solutions used in their facades, their conservation status and related anomalies. This data and mapping will include a number of photographs collected and organized in order to provide easy access and interpretation. The facades of buildings are considered an extremely relevant feature whether they are structural or just a physical barrier between inner and outer spaces and that is why they should be studied and planned with the utmost care as to which type of rehabilitation action they can and/or should be subjected to. Each and every action undertaken should attempt to restore the original features, using construction materials and techniques that will not decharacterize the original building and that will physically and chemically adjust to the supporting structure.
